So, I've just started this blog of my random thoughts. Here you will find funny things my kids said or did, musings about being a mother to all boys, scrapbook pages, and just about anything that sounds good to me. Today though, you get a synopsis of our trip to CO.
Let me first say that whoever invented the in-car DVD player, God bless you. It took 23 hours to get there, but the boys did great, much better than expected. We left Friday afternoon after David finished working and drove for about 6 hours. Saturday was our big chunk of 11 hours. We spent the night in a small town in Kansas and got the "look, outsiders" stare when we went to eat that made us laugh. But we liked the hotel so we stayed there on the way back too. Sunday we drove 4 hours, stopped for groceries and checked in.
Monday, everybody was signed up for ski school. In retrospect, this was not a good idea for Alex. He was tired from driving and still adjusting to the time change. Had a tantrum and refused to put his boots on, so we picked him up and tried on our own. Didn't go great, but it was enough to make him want to go back the next day. All 3 boys took ski school on Tuesday and by the end of the week, they were doing great. Everybody could stop and learned to turn and spent the next 3 days barreling down the mountain. And to top it all off, it snowed over 20 inches while we were there!
Here's Sam, who felt it was more important to get down the mountain fast, as in first, than learn to turn proficiently. His snowplow, however, is now perfected.
And here's Jake, who really worked hard on learning to turn and actually ended up being the one with the most control by week's end.
And Alex, who would only ski when you said "let's go Batman." He and I got to spend time together having hot chocolate each morning around 11. He got tired and needed a break while the big boys went with Daddy. Truth be told, Daddy needed that break too cause controlling that little guy on the leash was a lot of snowplowing and hard work.
And, just to prove I was there, a photo taken by Jake.
All in all, a great trip. 5 days of skiing, followed by 23 more hours of driving, and a car full of boys who were all complaining that the trip was over. They are already counting down the days till they can go again and that makes their Daddy very happy.
