I'm over on the 3SB blog today so go take a peek.
Yesterday was a busy day. David headed into the hospital while I cooked breakfast for the boys and got them ready to roll for the day. Then I dropped off Jake at his basketball game at 8:45 where David met us and then jetted to Alex's game since they both were starting at 9. Alex made his first basket after missing them all the first game! The kid is really a defensive gem though-he steals it just about every time. His team did great and won.
Jake scored in his game and they won too.
After the game we stopped home to let Lucy out for a quick run and then headed over to the pinewood derby to meet David and Jake.
Sam raced first. He won one heat, but did not make it to the finals. He was pretty cool about it though and just moved on. First and last were only separated by 5 one thousandths of a second, so they were all good.
Then I left with Sam to let Lucy out and go to his basketball game. Fortunately, David got a few shots of Jake's race while we were gone.
Sam did great in his game and they won a nail biter, 18-17, in the last seconds. No pictures though cause David had the camera.
Then back to the derby to watch Alex race. We have a concession stand at the derby and Alex took his wallet to buy stuff. While we were gone, he played with his classmate Kate and bought her snacks with his wallet of money. The other mom told me he said, "No, I got it. Today I'm taking care of Kate." I think this might be his first crush. Alex is not old enough for the scouts yet, but we have an outlaw division that a lot of the siblings and Dad's make cars for. Alex actually came in 2nd behind a Dad and was top ten for the whole pack. FYI-I got lazy and bought a kit for Alex that was premade. The bigs made theirs from scratch. Clearly more difficult than you would think to make a winning car. He loved every second of it and he got to race Kate.
A busy day, but a great one. Only thing that could have made it better was if UNC managed to pull out the win against NC State. It's been a tough season so far for us this year, just hope the rest of the season improves.
