Smash books are one of the hottest new items in scrapbooking. If you're not familiar with them, they are basically a spiral bound book for keeping anything and everything...drawings, clippings of favorite things/ideas, travel, pictures, whatever. You know how we all used to just keep ideas in a regular 'ol notebook?? Well now you can keep them in a pretty book that has decorated pages!
I finaly jumped on the smash book bandwagon and I absolutely {love} them. There's all kinds of themes of books to choose from. I actually bought several of them and gave one to each of my 2 older children. They love to scrapbook, doodle, draw & create and I thought these would be really fun. They're easy to use and they can jot down & paste whatever they want because it's their own book. And mom doesn't have to worry about a big mess...bonus!!!
So I thought I'd share a few pics of how my kids use their books. My daughter is 9 and she likes to clip cute pictures out of magazines & glue them in her book.
By the way, the pen that comes with the book has a glue stick on the other side. So convenient. Although, I will suggest getting an extra one because my daughter uses too much glue and hers has already run out.
And sometimes she'll take pics with my Instax camera or raid my 'extra' pics & put them in her book.
Now my son who is 7 also likes to clip pics to put in his book but moreso he uses his book as a drawing/doodling book. He loves to recreate Diary of a Wimpy Kid-ish drawings and cartoons.
Apparently this one is me taking a picture of my kids :)
And the best part is that once my kids are done with their books I have a scrapbook of their 'art'. Neat, huh?!
I have a smash album for myself but I haven't put stuff in it yet...still working on that. I love to shop thrift shops & yard sales for things I can repurpose & fix up. So I'm planning on using my spash book for that and other home decoration ideas. I just ordered some new smash goodies so once I get a few pages done I'll be sure to share them!
